General discharge gi bill

Can still I use my GI Bill with a general discharge? Is a general discharge an honorable discharge? What does GI Bill mean?


An OTH discharge means that you had some serious departures from the conduct and performance expected of a service member. The disadvantage of a General Discharge is that there are specific benefits which no longer become accessible.

Any benefit tied to that specific discharge type will not be received. GI Bill education benefits , for example, are reserved for military members who received an honorable discharge. The amount is based on the Department of Defense basic housing allowance (BAH) for monthly housing rates. MHA is based on the zip code of the campus where you attend classes.


Anything other than a fully honorable discharge and you can’t use your GI Bill. If you feel an injustice was done, you can appeal your discharge to the Board of Corrections. Your discharge is less than years ol which is one of the main requirements.


A discharge under general under honorable conditions is not an honorable discharge , it is a general discharge.

IT DOES NOT INDICATE ANY OTHER CRITERIA THAT MAY ALSO BE REQUIRED FOR AN INDIVIDUAL TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR THE BENEFITS INDICATED.


A General military discharge is a form of administrative discharge. Many veterans, and some VA medical center clerks as well, assume that a less-than-honorable discharge status on a veteran’s discharge. You must use all of your benefits by that time or you’ll lose whatever’s left.


Upgrading a military discharge solely to become eligible for GI Bill benefits or other payments is not permitte nor is upgrading a military discharge for compassionate reasons, or because of a change of character.

The Discharge Review Board may not be able to address a discharge that was the result of a court-martial. The Montgomery GI Bill is actually a Veteran Benefit, and is managed by the Veterans Administration (VA), who administer the program based upon laws enacted by Congress. You would get approximately months of GI Bill pro-rated. You must do everything possible to secure this now.


But since then, the language has changed. Honorable - the best and provides all benefits including GI Bill.
