The measles rash is red or reddish-brown in color. It starts on the face and works its way down the body over a few days: from the neck to the trunk, arms, and legs, until it finally reaches the feet.

Then, when someone with measles coughs, sneezes or talks, infected droplets spray into the air, where other people can inhale them.

When a person becomes infected with the measles virus, it begins to multiply within the cells that line the back of the throat and the lungs. The period between the measles transmission and the start of symptoms is called the measles incubation period. A persistent cough, sore throat, runny nose and inflamed eyes (conjunctivitis) are typical of the early stages of the measles. This relatively mild collection of symptoms may last two or three days after the onset of the fever.

A day or two before the rash appears, many people with measles develop small greyish-white spots in their mouth. Symptoms and signs, such as fever, dry cough, sensitivity to light, and rash, generally appear more than a week after exposure. During pregnancy, exposure to the measles virus may trigger miscarriage or premature delivery.

Treatment includes rest, calamine lotion or other anti- itching preparations to soothe the skin, non-aspirin pain relievers for fever, and in some cases antibiotics. Measles can often be prevented through vaccination. What are the common signs of measles in adults? You may also feel areas of pain, burning, or a tingling sensation. A few days later, the first signs of a rash appear.

German measles ( rubella ) is caused by the rubella virus and spreads among humans through contact with fluids in the respiratory tract. The development (incubation) period of German measles is 14–days before starting to feel ill, and a rash accompanied by fever appears 1–days later. Images of chicken pox early stages.

This is the second time in a year that I have had shingles and I still did not recognise the rash until it started blistering. Cough, fever, runny nose, and watery eyes are the first symptoms to develop. Then, white lesions may form on the inside of the mouth.

One or both eyes may be unmistakably red with a watery discharge. The affected eye is also likely to be difficult to open after sleeping, with the sensation that it has stuck shut. There is no treatment for conjunctivitis, which typically heals by itself.
