Navy severance pay

Separation pay is intended to assist members who are involuntarily separated in returning to civilian life. It is intended to encourage the pursuit of a military career through the assurance that those unable to remain on active duty until eligible for retired or retainer pay can count on compensation to ease their re-entry into civilian life. The amount equals months of basic pay for each year of service which includes active service and inactive duty points, but the total service years cannot exceed years. Disability severance pay is a one-time lump sum payment.


Separation may occur with entitlement to disability severance pay or without as it depends on the severity or if service connected injuries.

Members who separate from the military before they are eligible for retirement may receive separation or severance pay. Half ISP is of the calculated amount of full separation pay. Multiply this number by your regular monthly pay from the previous step.
