What does an uncharacterized discharge mean? What are general discharge benefits? What is under honorable conditions? Certain uncharacterized discharges are considered honorable for VA purposes which would make you entitled to benefits. Because your discharge was uncharacterized , it tells me that you were most likely in less than a year.

I had to fully explain why I had the type of discharge I ahd and provide all of my documantation. I believe the issue would be if the type of seperation you recieved would have been any thing less then honorable if you had been in the FMF when you were hurt or seperate and was only Uncharacterized due to the shortened term. When I called the vet rep at DOL he told me that the ARMY does this alot way more than any other service, that she should apply for benefits anyway and allow the VA to.
